2. About the USFDRC

The USFDRC is a nonprofit, nongovernmental, charitable, humanitarian, educational, and public-safety organization.

Nothing on this website represents or implies that the USFDRC is a federal, state, county, or municipal government agency, an official branch of the United States Armed Forces, or a replacement for a local fire department, emergency medical service, law-enforcement agency, emergency-management agency, healthcare provider, or crisisresponse service.

References to government agencies, military organizations, fire departments, corporations, sponsors, or community partners do not imply endorsement or formal affiliation unless expressly stated.

3. Informational and Educational Purposes

Website content is provided for general informational, educational, charitable, and public-awareness purposes.

Content concerning mental health, wellness, resilience, emergency preparedness, fire safety, or public safety does not constitute medical, psychological, legal, financial, emergency-response, or other professional advice. It is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any medical or mental health condition.

Always consult an appropriately qualified professional regarding individual circumstances.

4. Emergency and Crisis Disclaimer

The USFDRC website is not monitored as an emergency dispatch center or crisis hotline.

For an immediate police, fire, or medical emergency, call 911.

If you or someone you know is experiencing a mental health, suicide, or substance-use crisis in the United States, call or text the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline at 988.

Do not use website forms, email, social media, or general USFDRC telephone numbers to request emergency assistance.

No use of the USFDRC name, seal, emblem, logo, uniform design, insignia, or other identifying marks is permitted without prior written authorization

7. Downloadable Educational Materials

Certain posters, guides, publications, and educational resources may be identified as free to download, print, or share.

You remain responsible for your submission. Do not submit confidential, proprietary, medically sensitive, or legally protected information through general website forms unless specifically requested through an authorized and appropriately secured process.

Submitting information does not create an employment, membership, fiduciary, professional, confidential, or emergency-response relationship.

9. Donations

Donations may be processed through independent payment processors or fundraising platforms and may be subject to additional terms and privacy practices.

Donations are voluntary. Unless otherwise required by law or expressly stated in writing, completed charitable contributions are generally nonrefundable. If you believe a donation was submitted in error, contact adm@usfdrc.org promptly.

The tax deductibility of a contribution depends on individual circumstances. Donors should consult a qualified tax professional.

8. Information Retention

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this notice, maintain appropriate organizational records, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and satisfy legal, accounting, tax, reporting, or operational requirements.

Retention periods may vary depending on the nature and purpose of the information.

9. Information Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure.

Accessing a third-party service is at your own discretion and subject to that provider’s terms and policies.

11. Website Availability and Accuracy

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the website and its content are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied.

The USFDRC disclaims warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, noninfringement, availability, and freedom from harmful components to the extent permitted by law.

13. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the USFDRC and its directors, officers, personnel, reservists, volunteers, contractors, representatives, and service providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages arising from or connected with:

  • Access to or use of the website

  • Reliance on website information
  • Downloaded materials
  • Third-party websites or services
  • Unauthorized access to or alteration of information Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded.

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida and applicable federal laws of the United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

Any dispute will be subject to the jurisdiction of an appropriate court located in Florida unless applicable law requires otherwise.

15. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in effect.

16. No Waiver

Failure by the USFDRC to enforce a provision of these Terms does not constitute a waiver of that provision or any other right.

17. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms periodically. Revisions become effective when posted unless another effective date is stated.
